“A Sorrowful Goodbye and a New Beginning”

Session 7 Recap

The party immediately noticed the lifeless body of a Succubus on the floor. Sun had been coercing her to use a cursed ring to manipulate Enna. Once Sun lured the party to his location, he killed the Succubus and used Disguise Self to assume her appearance, waiting for them to approach. As they closed in, Sun revealed himself, taunting Tonci and utterly shattering his resolve. A fierce battle broke out. It took Tonci several rounds to land a blow, while Liliana transformed into a dire wolf and attacked as Sun mocked them.
During the chaos, Enna noticed the Stone of Banishment on Sun’s belt. As Sun hovered in the air, she knocked him unconscious and used Mage Hand to retrieve the stone just before he regained consciousness. Enraged, Sun retaliated by decapitating Liliana. However, when her head hit the ground, both her head and body vanished, leaving behind a silver ring. This startled Sun, who fled the battlefield, leaving the Stone Tooth behind. During the battle Dorian’s tattoos filled in and light flooded out of them as he rose into the air, firing Celestial arrows at Sun Silverlight, thus showing that he is actually a Druid with connections to the Celestial.

In the aftermath, the party discovered Dirk and a Goliath barbarian named Tahlra, along with the corpses of Val and Vel. Tahlra told the party that Sun had tortured the pair to learn the Tome of Undeath’s whereabouts, discovering it had last been seen by Arune Vazzt. After extracting the information, Sun mercilessly murdered them. She also overheard that Vecna had learned that the Summer Solstice, not the winter, was the key to resurrecting Orcus. Vecna immediately headed for Whember, Arune’s last known location.
The party healed Tahlra, who shared additionaly crucial information: the Church of the Nine is a sham, Vecna controls Jovirim, and The Strolling Players are being used as an instrument of war. Meanwhile, Beck, who had been acting strangely, came to a shocking realization—he was the “Original Hero” from the Prophecy of Ariel. Understanding the urgency of Orcus’s return, Beck left to train with Hel to prepare for the impending battle.

The party discovered a secret room where Tahlra’s weapons were hidden, but it was trapped with poison statues. Dorian used his Cloak of Dimension Door to teleport out of the room and free the party. They recovered a Broom of Flying, Boots of Haste, and all of Tahlra’s belongings.
The group returned to Whember, only to find the city in turmoil. Vurgorim was invading Thornehold, and Whember was overrun by Church of the Nine forces. The main gate was closed, leaving only a smaller one accessible. Marshall Talbot spotted the party and escorted them inside, where chaos reigned. The Penis Tower had disintegrated, The False Pearl was ablaze with Urixima standing outside, and businesses were shuttered.

Talbot led them to The Rusty Dagger, where they met Sanise Aniphi, who flirted with Pendejo. Sanise placed the Stone of Banishment into the Vessel of Finding, releasing a burst of purple magical energy that illuminated the ceiling with a star pattern. Tonci and Dorian deduced that the visible pattern would align with a physical loation on the island of Maeve. Sanise informed them that Faelynn Doyle was waiting for them in Paragon, Orei, conveniently on their route to Maeve. She gave Dorian a small package to deliver to Faelynn, which he promised not to open.
After resupplying with Moe Doxley, the party rested. The next morning, Talbot advised Tonci on the safest route to Paragon, and the group—now consisting of Dorian, Elder Pendejo, Enna, Tonci, Tahlra, and Dexter—set out. Along the way, they were ambushed by a group of kobolds using reckless suicide tactics, which were easily thwarted. Victorious, the party continued their journey toward Paragon.
